Day of Surgery
  • Compliance with pre-operative eating and drinking instructions is VERY important.
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes.
  • The Laser and Surgery Center is not responsible for lost valuables, so PLEASE leave them at home.
  • It is very important to adhere to your scheduled arrival time so that our staff can properly prepare you for your procedure. Please be advised, occasionally delays can occur and the Laser and Surgery Center will make every effort to advise you should this happen.
  • Persons under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian accompanying them to sign medical consent forms. Also, legal documentation must be presented when power of attorney or guardianship is representing a patient.
  • If your child is having surgery, please bring a toy, blanket, pacifier, and/or video with you for their comfort.
  • Small children must be accompanied by two adults. For safety reasons, the driver of a vehicle should not be tending to a post-operative child.
  • Bring a complete list of all medications you are presently taking.
    Your Procedure
  • The Laser and Surgery Center encourages a family member or friend to be present in the waiting room during your procedure. However, if that is not possible or the person leaves the facility, the Laser and Surgery Center must have emergency contact numbers available at the front desk.
  • Simple lab tests may be performed at the Laser and Surgery Center on the day of surgery if not previously completed.
  • Your anesthesia care team will meet with you and answer any questions you may have.
  • A nurse and member of the anesthesia team will escort you to the operating room.
    After Your Procedure
  • You will recover in your private, monitored bed in our recovery area. An anesthesiologist will monitor your care along with our highly trained recovery nurses.
  • A relative or friend may join you in the recovery area when your attending nurse feels it is appropriate.
  • You will be offered a beverage and a snack to help in your recovery. If you have special dietary restrictions or preferences, please bring them with you.
  • The nurses and doctors before discharging you will answer any questions and give you post-operative instructions. A written copy of these instructions will be provided to take with you.
  • For your safety, you should have an adult with you for the first 24 hours following surgery.
  • A nurse or attendant will escort you to the exit and see that you are safely in your vehicle for your trip home.
  • A nurse from the recovery area will call you within 24-48 hours after discharge to check on your re-cooperation. If you have any complications please contact your surgeon's office immediately.
  • Upon discharge you will also receive a "Patient Satisfaction Survey" as part of our on-going Quality Improvement Program. The Laser and Surgery Center is very interested in your comments and shares them with the staff in an effort to continue to provide high quality surgical care.
